Business context

As Swoon scaled, they needed to improve the efficiency of their backend systems to support growing operations. The company aimed to lower infrastructure costs, speed up task execution, and improve accuracy in order management and fulfillment. Reducing human error through process automation was a key goal, alongside integrating multiple third-party services for payments, freight, and shipping.

Challenges

High backend operating costs. The client’s infrastructure required optimization to reduce ongoing expenses and improve ROI.

Slow and inconsistent task execution. Typical processes needed to be accelerated while ensuring predictable and reliable completion times.

Process errors caused by manual handling. Human factors were leading to mistakes, impacting both efficiency and customer experience.

Coordinating multiple logistics and payment systems. There was a need to connect several third-party providers, payments, freight, and shipping, while keeping workflows stable and ensuring consistent data flow.

Solutions we implemented

  1. Cloud-native backend foundation
Designed and deployed a serverless AWS architecture. We built a fully serverless infrastructure leveraging AWS Lambda, enabling scalable, on-demand resource usage and reducing operating costs.
  2. Continuous delivery and release automation
Set up automated CI/CD pipelines. Continuous integration and deployment in AWS streamlined the release cycle, reducing downtime and ensuring rapid updates.
  3. Unified payment and logistics ecosystem
Integrated payment systems and logistics services. The platform was connected with Klarna and Stripe for flexible online payments, as well as Zencargo for freight and Rhenus, Ash Logistic, and DPD for shipping.
  4. Operational automation with Orderhive
Enhanced operations through Orderhive integration. By automating tasks across apps, Orderhive helped streamline vendor management and order processing.
  5. Structured workflows and quality assurance
Conducted business analysis and quality assurance. Our BA and QA teams worked closely with the client to formalize workflows, validate integrations, and ensure reliability across the platform.
